SGCHS Grade 9 Virtual Open House
February 22, 2021 - Spruce Grove Composite High School is happy to welcome area Grade 9 students and their parents/guardians to participate in our first ever Virtual Open House.
Date: Thursday, February 25
Location: Virtual Meetings through Google Meet
How to Participate
Our staff has put together a number of videos designed to introduce incoming high school students to the many different course options they have to choose from at SGCHS. Links to these videos have been posted below, and you can watch them at any time leading up to our Open House to get a general idea of what courses may be a good fit for you.
During our Virtual Open House, you can follow the Google Meet links to connect with teachers from each high school department, who will be happy to answer any remaining questions you may have, so you can feel confident plotting your course through Grade 10 and beyond. Administrative and Student Services staff will also be on hand to answer your general questions about the high school experience and registration process. When you've finished checking out our Virtual Open House, be sure to complete our Feedback Survey and enter to win some cool SGCHS swag.
No formal presentation will be made during this event, but participants will be able to discover all the opportunities our high school has to offer, and meet some of the staff they will encounter over the three years they spend at SGCHS.
We look forward to seeing you at our virtual event! If you have any remaining questions after the event, feel free to contact us at the school.

Important to Note:
- G Meets marked with a * above are shared between subjects, as these subjects are taught by the same teacher. Design Studies will share a G Meet with Electro Technology, and Photojournalism will share a G Meet with Japanese. The Grade 10 Team will also be able to answer your questions about our Knowledge & Employability Program.
- Subjects marked with a † are programs of choice offered through Connections for Learning.
- The Post-Secondary Partnerships video (‡) was prepared for this year's Grade 10 students, as this program is open to students in Grade 11 & 12. Students entering Grade 10 who are interested in this program for their later years of high school may wish to view this video to see the opportunities that will be available to them at that time.
- Life and Working Skills (LAWS) offers a range of opportunities for students with complex needs to develop their academic, independent, and life skills. Students in LAWS remain full time with the program, yet have a wide range of opportunities for inclusion into various aspects of our school on a formal and informal basis. Each student entering LAWS has a program built around their strengths, interests and areas for growth towards independence. For more information about LAWS, please contact Dave Oldham at firstname.lastname@example.org.
