Minister's Youth Council
February 6, 2020 - The Minister of Education is recruiting youth to sit on the Minister's Youth Council. Annually, 40 junior and senior high students with diverse interests, identities, backgrounds and perspectives from all regions of Alberta are selected for the council. The program is eligible for junior or senior high students between the ages of 14 and 19 (as of September 1, 2020) Applicants chosen will be on the council for a 10-month term which involves 3 meetings to be held in Edmonton in fall, winter and spring.

The Ministry is looking for approximately 32 to 40 youth with diverse interests, identities, backgrounds and perspectives from all across Alberta to participate as partners in contributing to our education system.
A minimum of 24 new council members and maximum of 8 returning council members will be recruited from the 2019-2020 council.
The deadline for applications is March 18, 2020.

Leadership is not always positional, it can also be situational; you can demonstrate leadership even if you’re not the leader of a group. Describe one leadership skill you
demonstrate and how it would positively contribute to the council.
Why do you want to be on the Minister's Youth Council?
