Spruce Grove Composite
High School (10–12)

Parents Update

May 12, 2017

On behalf of the staff at Spruce Grove Composite High School, we'd like to express our sincere thanks to students who attended school Friday May 12th and conducted themselves in a 'business-as-usual' manner. In Parkland School Division, we are a caring and compassionate organization guided by what's in the best interest of students and our students have shown, once again, what it means to value trust and mutual respect amongst staff and fellow students.

Additionally, we have the utmost respect for the RCMP who play an active role in our school community. We will always take their lead when it comes to student safety and we are happy to report that through their investigations of threats toward our school, no student or staff was in danger or is in danger moving forward. Had it been any different, emergency procedures would have beeen enacted and the school would have been locked down or closed completely but thankfully that wasn't the case.

Our school and school division will always proceed proactively and use any opportunity to teach students that what may start as seemingly harmless social media posts will lead to a serious response and come with serious consequences.

It's business as usual next week.

Thanks again.  Have a great weekend and we'll see you in class on Monday.
