Summer School

Parkland School Division offers Summer School at Spruce Grove Composite High School Outreach (SGCHS Outreach) and Memorial Composite High School (MCHS).

Summer School is just around the corner.  If you wish to attend, please register sooner than later as some classes are filling up fast and others will be cancelled if there is no interest.

SGCHS Summer School

SGCHS Summer School courses are offered in an assisted independent study method and intended for students repeating the course to improve a grade. A selection of courses are also available to Grade 9 students who have enrolled at SGCHS for the 2017-2018 school year.

Dates: June 30 - July 22, 2017 (Closed July 1)
Times: 8:30am-3pm, Monday to Friday; 8:30am-Noon Saturdays
Location: Spruce Grove Composite High School Outreach (Bay 2, 120 St. Matthew's Ave., Spruce Grove (Behind Wendy's))

MCHS Summer School

MCHS Summer School offers a selection of core classes for 5 credits, as well as Physical Education 10, CALM and Construction Technology for 3 credits.

Dates: July 3-28, 2017
Times: 8am-12:30pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Memorial Composite High School (50 Westerra Centre, Stony Plain)

  • 3-credit classes are July 3-14
  • 5-credit classes are July 3-28

Summer School Work Experience

Students can earn 3-10 Work Experience credits from July 3-24, 2017 (prerequisite: HCS3000 and work site approval). 

To receive credits, students must register in Summer School as soon as possible and have their worksite application approved by Memorial's Off-Campus Education Office. Contact Mr. Weisenburger (780-963-2255 ext. 1091) at MCHS for more details.


Two cheques payable to Parkland School Division are required at the time of registration:

  • $50 non-refundable registration fee (fee is refunded if the course is cancelled due to low enrollment)
  • $50 book deposit (for 5 credit courses only) that will be held and returned to the student upon handing in their Summer School textbooks or novels.

Important to Note:

  • Every day of Summer School instruction is the equivalent to one week of a high school semester program.
  • Full attendance is required and no provisions will be made for late starts or early releases.
  • Students must be in attendance on the final day of class to write their final exam.
  • No 30-Level Courses will be offered at MCHS Summer School for 2017. Students interested in 30-Level courses are advised to check out Alberta Distance Learning Courses or Edmonton Public School Summer School 2017.
