You can now apply for SGCHS Awards online via Google Forms by clicking the Apply link beside the name of each award listed below. SGCHS Awards Applications will be accepting responses until Sunday, April 9, 2017.

If you are a SGCHS student applying for an award, please ensure you have completed the 2017 Main Application for SGCHS Awards form, as this is required by the Awards Selection Committee.

  • Alberta Citizenship Awards - Apply
    • Premier's Citizenship Award - An award plaque for one student at each Alberta high school.
    • Queen's Golden Jubilee Citizenship Medal - Eight awards of $5,000 each, a letter of commendation and a medal presented by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.
    • Alberta Centennial Awards - 25 awards of $2,005 each.
  • Alberta Summer Games Legacy Awards - Apply
    • Leadership qualities, participation and involvement in school and community activities, going on to further study and in significant financial need. Must be a resident in tri-communities for minimum of 2 years (Spruce Grove, Stony Plain or County of Parkland)  4 x $750
  • Alexander Rutherford Scholarships
    • Students with an 80% average in 5 qualifying subjects - $1300
    • Students with a 75% to 79.9% in 5 qualifying subjects - $700

  • Alfred Dao Yearbook Award
    • Given to the most dedicated member of the yearbook committee, the recipient must be on the yearbook committee for the full year and identified by the teacher organizers as the student that has consistently gone above and beyond their duties. $250

    • ​Academic & Further Study Award. $250
    • Only first year Grade 12 students are eligible.
  • Border Paving Engineering Scholarship - Apply
    • Academic excellence and further study in engineering or engineering technology (highest av. Using blended marks in Eng. 30, Math 30/31, Chem. 30 and Physics 30) (Competition with Memorial Composite High School). $1000
  • Brian Dyrkach Mathematics Achievement Award - Apply
    • SGCHS graduating student who has shown significant effort, achievement and work ethic in mathematics. The recipient will have completed Math 30-1 in good standing and is planning on attending post-secondary studies in the fall at a recognized institution, in a faculty related to mathematics, science or engineering. $400
  • Brook Wain Memorial H.E.A.R.T. Award (Badminton)
    • Gr. 12 grad who is the most dedicated, hardworking member (Male or Female) of the Badminton team. Award is not based on academic achievement or post-secondary plans. Student must exemplify the following: H-humor, E-Energy, A-Achieve, R-Respect, and T-Truth. Wain Committee to select candidate. $250 & Plaque 
  • Brook Wain Memorial H.E.A.R.T. Award (Men’s VB)
    • Gr. 12 grad who is the most dedicated, hardworking member of the Sr. Men’s Volleyball team. Award is not based on academic achievement or post-secondary plans. Student must exemplify the following: H-Humor, E-Energy, A-Achieve, R-Respect, and T-Truth. Wain Committee to select candidate. $250 & Plaque

    • Grad who achieves the greatest number of credits in Gr. 10, 11 and the 1st semester of Gr. 12. $300

    • Highest Études Sociales 30 (blended) mark. $100
  • French as a Second Language Leadership Award - Apply
    • Must complete 30-level French course, academic marks are NOT a criteria. Must demonstrate outstanding leadership in promoting French Language Learning Opportunities (personally and in Parkland County). No past immersion. $100 & Plaque  
  • French Immersion Leadership Award - Apply
    • Must complete 10/20/30 Immersion, academic marks are NOT a criteria. Must demonstrate outstanding leadership in promoting French Language Learning Opportunities (personally and in Parkland County). $100 & Plaque

    • Leadership, service, academic achievement, preference to student council participant $250 & Plaque 
  • German 30/31 Consulate Awards
    • Outstanding German 30 student - Book 
  • Governor General’s Award - Medal
    • Highest Academic Average:
      The average includes all Grade 11 and Grade 12 courses, including Work Experience, as listed on the student’s official Transcript of Grades issued by the Ministry of Education. Medal 
  • Health Professions Award - Apply
    • Academic excellence, pursuit of career in the health profession. $250 & Plaque 
  • Mayor’s Award (3 year Highest Average)
    • Top Average for all three years of High School. $500
  • Merit Contractors Association Award
    • Top Grade 12 CTS Student. $300

    • Academic & Further Study Award. $250
    • Only first year Grade 12 students are eligible.
  • Orest Haydey/Connie Archer Panther Auxiliary Award - Apply
    • Involved extensively with activities supported by Panther Auxiliary Association (i.e. athletics) and has a minimum 70% average. (Preferably 1 female and 1 male). 2 x $500, Trophy & Plaque 
  • Outstanding Diploma Exam Achievement Certificate
    • 100% on a Diploma Exam - Certificate & Plaque
  • Outstanding Female/Male Athlete of the Year
    • Top male/female athlete who shows significant contributions to the school’s P.E. program both curricular and extracurricular. Currently Under Review 
  • Parkland School Division Citizenship Scholarship. 10 x $500
    1. Has a weighted average in all grade 12 courses of 70% to 79.5%
    2. Has demonstrated good citizenship and participation in their local and school communities, strong attendance (>80% attendance rate)
    3. Has not received any other major school-based award or scholarship
    4. Is enrolled in a post-secondary institution

    • Student with a learning disability going on to further study (P E P – Performance – Effort – Persistence). $600 & Plaque 
  • Pipeworx Ltd. Apprenticeship Award - Apply
    • Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in a tradesman class. $250 & Plaque
  • Pipeworx Ltd. Pipeline Award of Excellence - Apply
    • Awarded to a graduating student enrolled in a pipefitter course at a post-secondary institution. $250 & Plaque
  • Pipeworx Ltd. Tradesperson Leadership Award - Apply
    • Awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated excellent leadership skills in a tradesman class. $500 & Plaque 
  • Rental Bus Lines Scholarship: Food Studies - Apply
    • Student who demonstrates positive citizenship qualities, involved in extra-curricular school-based activities, community involvement or volunteerism, or general school work ethic, attitude, and conduct. The recipient must have 75% plus average in their CTS courses and show proof of registration in a post-secondary trades or technical Institution with 18 months of graduation. $500
  • Rental Bus Lines Scholarship: Heavy Duty Mechanic - Apply
    • Student who demonstrates positive citizenship qualities, involved in extra-curricular school-based activities, community involvement or volunteerism, or general school work ethic, attitude, and conduct. The recipient must have 75% plus average in their CTS courses and show proof of registration in a post-secondary trades or technical institution with 18 months of graduation. $500
  • Robert Chamney Memorial Scholarship - Apply
    • Awarded to a graduating student from the Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) enrolled in the Electrical Apprenticeship Program at NAIT. Preference will be given to students with a learning disability and/or who demonstrates overcoming of obstacles. Another trade will be a secondary consideration. $1000 & Plaque 
  • Rotary Club of Spruce Grove Student Recognition Award - Apply
    • Student who best exemplifies Rotary International’s motto “Service Above Self”, who is involved in community service, school/church service, or youth assistance. 2 x $1000
